Hosting the 2002 National Conference

It's official! Our chapter will host the National Conference in 2002.

This is a great opportunity to show the other chapters the history of the Lincoln Highway in California. Norm Root and myself will co-chair this event, and we will be calling on many of you for expertise on the area we will cover during the tour. I hope we can do this in a four-day event! The dates are June 12-16, 2002. Our headquarters will be Holiday Inn, Northeast on Date Avenue in Sacramento.

This Year's Auto Tour

Our Annual Auto Tour is on September 23, 2000. $12.00 per car registration, at 9 AM in West Sacramento, will include a dash plaque. We will travel at our leisure to Dixon for the dedication at 11:30 AM of a concrete Lincoln Highway marker. After the dedication we will drive to Fairfield to a park for lunch. Bring your picnic lunch with you, and the chapter will furnish drinks and a cake. 90% of this drive is on the Lincoln Highway. Jack Duncan has mapped this portion and will have written directions for you to follow. Join us for this history-making event in Dixon.

In conjunction with the tour, we will hold a raffle for a book donated by the author and member of our chapter, Jerry M. Fisher. It is a biography of Carl G. Fisher, creator of the Lincoln Highway, Miami Beach and the Indy 500. Money raised through this will defray expenses for the concrete marker.
