December 2000 Chapter News

by Mary Salazar - Chapter President

Dear L.H.A. Members,

Thanksgiving is upon us and I have some special thanks to give.

Thanks to Jack and Cleona Duncan for their supreme effort in the planning of our Auto Tour along the Lincoln Highway from West Sacramento to Fairfield. Much history was resolved because of the tour. The tour pointed out many Lincoln Highway concrete markers, and we had a very enthusiastic group to enjoy this day. Thanks to Ron Tribbett and the City of Dixon for the location for placing a new concrete marker, with the help of the Boy Scouts of Troop 152 of Dixon.

Thanks to Norman Root, our Vice-President, for building the marker for this occasion. He will be making four more for the City of West Sacramento to be placed in the near future.

Thank you Wes Hammond for a great newsletter.

Election of new officers for the Chapter will be held at the next meeting on January 13, 2001. Nominations will be taken from the floor and voted upon.

Our speaker is Joel Windmiller, who will speak on his hobby of collecting early road maps. Be there, January 13, 2001 at 2 PM.

Our meeting will take place at the Caltrans Bridge Design Building, 1801 30th Street, Sacramento. Using Business I-80 from the north, take the P Street off-ramp. From south Sacramento, take the T Street off-ramp.

Refreshments will be served.

Wishing all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Sincerely,

Mary Salazar
Chapter President
