Join the first annual Lincoln Highway Adventure along Indiana’s historic Lincoln Highway, August 5 and 6, 2011. Kick off the Adventure at Downtown South Bend’s First Friday Cruise-In. The next day pilot your crew through the historic communities of New Carlisle, LaPorte, Valparaiso, Dyer, and back to Plymouth for the Adventure’s Closing Picnic.

Each registered vehicle will receive an Adventure Bag with a dash plaque, discount coupons, an Adventure Passport and a booklet containing turn-by-turn directions and information about sites, great stops and communities along the way.

Compete in the Lincoln Highway Scavenger Hunt, a geocache hunt and check in via Foursquare or stay connected through your other favorite social media.

2011 Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Yard Sale: August 4-6

The sixth annual Lincoln Highway Buy-Way, a yard sale that stretches across hundreds of miles, will be held from Thursday, August 4 to Saturday, August 6. This year, five states are participating: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia. Here is more information on how to participate in the Buy-Way:

Rochelle, IL plans annual Lincoln Highway Festival

Plans are underway for the 14th annual Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival in Rochelle, Illinois, which will take place August 19–21. The festival includes family entertainment, arts and crafts, food, a parade, a car show, and much more.

Fri and Sat: Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival in Tama, IA

The city of Tama, Iowa is hosting the 32nd Annual Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival this Friday and Saturday, May 20–21. The festival includes a parade, food, entertainment, family activities, a 5K run/walk, and more food.

Sat 5/7: California ghost town celebrates its history

The Clarksville Region Historical Society hosts the fifth annual Clarksville Day in the ghost town of Clarksville, near El Dorado Hills, California, on Saturday, May 7, from 10 am to 3 pm. A classic car convoy will parade down the Lincoln Highway, and the Lincoln Highway Association will have a booth at the festival.

Historical marker dedicated in Kearney, NE

A historical marker commemorating a seedling mile of the Lincoln Highway was dedicated in Kearney, Nebraska on Sunday.

LHA Indiana director walks across Indiana to raise money for Alzheimer’s and LHA

Jeff Blair, the Indiana state director of the Lincoln Highway Association, will walk across Indiana along the 1913 route of the Lincoln Highway to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association and the Lincoln Highway Association. The walk will take place from Thursday, April 14 to Wednesday, April 27.
