Sutherland, NE plans to restore old gas stations
Sutherland, Nebraska is working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality to restore four abandoned gas stations along the Lincoln Highway into new attractions to improve its economy.

Son of sign-covered gas station owner dies
Ron Preston died earlier this month. He was the son of George Preston, owner of the famous sign-covered gas station in Belle Plaine, Iowa, along the Lincoln Highway.

Here are a few events to enjoy along the Lincoln Highway this weekend.
The 4th Annual Iowa Lincoln Highway Motor Tour runs for three days, starting tomorrow.

Plans for Gateway Park in Plainfield, IL stalled
The effort to build Gateway Park in Plainfield, Illinois has been stalled, due to a failure to secure a federal grant and the unwillingness of a property owner to donate its land to the park. The park would sit at the intersection of Illinois State Route 59 (old Route 66) and U.S. 30 (the Lincoln Highway).

Charcoal kilns in Piedmont, WY rededicated
The giant conical charcoal kilns in the ghost town of Piedmont, Wyoming were dedicated earlier this month after much restoration work. The kilns, over 100 years old, are near the Lincoln Highway.
