Quarterly Chapter Meeting Minutes – Saturday, April 1, 2023

    1. Attendance: 14
  3. Approval of January 2023 Minutes
    1. Paul motioned to approve the January 2023 minutes. Trey seconded the motion. Minutes passed.
  4. Officer and committee reports
    1. Neil Rodrigues: State Director
      1. Conference update
        1. Questions about list of attendees and what individuals are signed up for.
          1. Tabled for the next committee meeting
      2. Content for The Forum
        1. If anyone is doing anything to support the Lincoln Highway, please submit your adventures to Neil or Trey to be added to The Forum.
      3. California Museum
        1. They are putting together a seminar or exhibit about the Boy Scouts and was looking for a speaker to talk about the road. Joel is in the process of putting something together with the museum.

      1. Conference Update
      2. Signage talk took over this part of the meeting.
      3. Jim Gilda, near Emigrant Gap, would like a marker put in near Lang Road. Trey volunteered to help. There was also discussion about including a Boy Scout in the construction and dedication if someone was working on their Eagle Project. Project is on hold due to the snow.
      4. John Luca contacted Joel to make a speech at the California Railroad Museum for when Boy Scouts are putting up an exhibit. Neil and Joel have sent pictures of Boy Scouts putting up markers.
      5. Jennifer Howey, senior environmentalist of Duberry, is doing an assessment of Sisley Road in Placer County, an active piece of the Lincoln Highway. We are trying to figure out what they are going to do with the road. Joel and Trey added their input into keeping the road as is in its present form.
      6. Future chapter meetings: costs for everything is going up so if you know of any place that we could have our chapter meetings along the highway that is affordable to members, please let Joel know.
        1. Someone suggested their backyard. Trey suggested it would be good for a summer meeting.
    3. Trey Pitsenberger: Vice President
      1. Conference Update
        1. Trey has enjoyed working with Folsom. The town has been supportive of the conference and our needs.
        2. The Mayor will be coming to the opening dinner to say a few words.
    4. Trey Pitsenberger: Signage/Traveler/Chapter Historian
      1. Signage mostly on hold due to the conference work.
      2. They did put up a sign at Fresh Pond.
      3. We are using Folsom as a model for signage, the way they take ownership and care of their signs.
    5. Grant Gassman: Treasurer’s Report
      1. Deposit: $99 from national
      2. Disbursements: $170 to Joel for postcards and meeting place for today.
      3. Balance available upon request.
    6. Paulette Johnston: Secretary
      1. Unable to attend
    7. Mark Hoffman: Unable to attend
      1. Buses for conference are taken care of for June.
