Call for Nominations

The LHA is proud to present the 2008 Annual Awards in celebration of outstanding people and organizations making exceptional contributions to the preservation and promotion of the historic Lincoln Highway corridor. These awards are intended to highlight the best in the LHA. Awards will be presented at the Awards Dinner at the June 2008 conference in Evanston, Wyoming. Nominations may be made by any LHA member. Submit nomination materials by May 1.

LHA Award Categories

LHA Director of the Year: An individual director who has made a significant contribution to the LHA and its mission.

LHA Member of the Year: An individual who has made a significant contribution to the LHA and its mission through leadership and service.

Business/Corporate/Non-profit Organization Supporter of the Year: A business, corporation, non-profit organization or trust/foundation that has made a significant contribution to the LHA through donations of funds, time, goods, or services. (Please clearly define a contact person for this business or trust/foundation).

Educator of the Year: Recognizes an individual who has contributed significantly to developing and/or sharing the Lincoln Highway heritage within an educational setting for students in grades K-12 or at the college level. This award is intended to encourage further development of Lincoln Highway curriculum with the intention of increasing awareness of the LH heritage among today’s youth and developing a new generation that will work toward protecting, preserving, and interpreting the road.

Preservation Award: An individual, group, or a state or regional chapter who has made significant contributions in the area of preservation. Examples of preservation efforts may relate to the successful preservation of a LH alignment or a structure or a landscape related to the Lincoln Highway corridor.

Nomination Information

A selection committee will be appointed by the Board of Directors to review all nominations. Please note that the presenting of the awards is based on qualified nominations in each category. The LHA reserves the right to not present an Award every year based on the nominations for any given year. Nominations will be judged on the significance and/or magnitude of the contribution and achievement. Nominations must be submitted on the official form. Selected winners and their nominators should be able to attend the LHA conference to accept their award. All nominations must be received by the LHA on or before May 1, 2008. Please include:

1. A nomination form
2. Brief description of the nominee and his/her/their work to support the award
3. Nominee’s Bio/Resume (if for an individual)
4. Support Materials (optional)
